Your first visit will provide us the opportunity to establish a baseline for your dental care. You can expect to meet our hygienist and the dentist, both of which will provide you with information about the condition and future care of your mouth. Our goal with each appointment is to help you acquire or maintain your best oral health.
Your initial exam will include digital x-rays, which are more comfortable and safer than traditional radiographs. They also provide us with immediate feedback on the condition of your teeth and jaws. Your teeth will be examined and measurements will be taken of your gums to determine your risk for gum disease. This will also determine the type of cleaning that will best suit your situation.
When this stage is completed, the dentist will go over the report, do another check, and discuss the findings with you. You will also be given an oral cancer screening during your first visit. There will be time for you to ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have about your dental health.
